Angelica seed has been praised for its virtues since antiquity. It strengthens the heart, stimulates the circulation and the immune system in general. It has been used for centuries in Europe for bronchial ailments, colds, coughs, indigestion, wind and to stimulate the appetite. As a urinary antiseptic, Angelica seed is helpful in cystitis and is also used for rheumatic inflammation.
Angelica Seed is virtually colourless when freshly distilled, gradually darkening to a yellowish-brown. It has a very rich, pleasant aroma and is used commercially in many liqueurs and aperitifs including Chartreuse and Benedictine.
Angelica Seed is less phototoxic than Angelica root.
