Manuka essential oil is a fairly recent addition to aromatherapy, although the plant has been used by the Maoris for centuries. Often compared with Tea Tree, it is a possible immuno-stimulant (but not as powerful as Tea Tree).
Manuka is a powerful insecticide and is good for insect bites, athlete's foot, ringworm, cold sores, acne, together with chronic wounds and ulcers.
Overall, Manuka essential oil is healing, refreshing and calming. Useful in massage, Manuka has a gentle analgesic effect on sore, aching muscles.
