Ginger comes China, Indonesia and sometimes the West Indies and was mentioned way back in history, not only in Roman times but also in its ancient home of China. Ginger is well known as a digestive aid. The herb grows up to 4 feet, or 120cm high, but it is the rhizome which provides the spice and the essential oil. The Chinese God of Long Life wore a yellow ginger coloured robe, paying tribute to the use that they saw for the herb.
